PROGRAMME 2010
The week starts out with an evening at Worm, where the teaching staff will give a concert. During the week, daytime sessions will take place at the WM&DC (where several rooms - with backline - are available, both for smaller groups and for plenary sessions). The evenings are free. The week ends with concerts at Worm (Rotterdam, Thu 26), Bimhuis (Amsterdam Fri 27) and ZomerJazzFietsToer (Groningen, Sat 28).
The workshops and coaching sessions focus on improvising, but may also go into composing (although music reading is not required for the participants). In general, the content of the sessions is geared toward the students. Teachers will be available for individual sessions between and after hours.
The DIA participants, staff and organization all stay in the same apartment hotel in the vibrant port city of Rotterdam : three people share an apartment with private bedrooms with tv, communal living and dining rooms, and large terraces (for the smokers). There is one large room plus kitchen that serves as headquarters and living room for everybody.
The apartment hotel is ca 10 mins driving / biking from the WMDC where the workshops and coaching sessions take place. We provide bikes and transport for instruments and those who would prefer not to walk or bike. A bus brings us to the concerts Amsterdam (where we will sleep for two nights) and Groningen.

Looking back at 2009
In 2009, about 20 participants were selected from 55 applicants. The age of the participants ranged from 19 to 50, and the instruments varied from guitar to harp, from bass to accordion, makes no difference! The background of the students was just as diverse: from conservatory students to full time professional musicians. For an impression of the first edition of the Dutch Impro Academy, see 2009
